When genies are born

Tuesday, March 30, 2010

Ancient were convinced that the birthrate of talented people differs at different times depending on the phases of solar activity cycle. Today, scientists are not willing to discuss these topics fearing for their academic carrier. However, there are people who try to sort out the rules of geniality.

Basically, we can agree that mental abilities of a person depend on the environment at the time his or her neuron cells in the cortex were being developed. However, the environment changes, both through the time and space and it poses the question:  Can the birthrate of the genial people really depend on the latitude and date of birth?

To answer this question, Eugeny Vinogradov, the senior engineer of Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute in Moscow, Russia, analyzed data of places and dates of birth of numerous prominent people. The hypothesis was proved.

To make this job, Evgeny Vinogradov collected information about time and place of birth of 757 Nobel Prize winners per January 1, 2006 from 61 countries. Thus, he located a little but a typical group of talented people. Then he analyzed 329 other prominent people registered in biographical reference books (mathematicians, mechanics, physicists, chemists, astronomers, biologists, composers) and 1201 people who had been referenced in encyclopedias.

The collected data covered people born during quite a long period of time in high and low latitudes, and it showed that in high latitudes genies were born more frequently. Thus, in the latitude of 60 degrees, the Nobel Prize winners were born more often than in 20 – 30 degrees latitude (40 times more). Total birthrate of the Nobel laureates in Finland, Sweden and Norway appeared to be in 8,7 times higher than in Portugal, Spain and Italy altogether. The same proportion was seen for other groups of famous people.

Vinogradov explains that the elements of natural environment are changing from equator to the poles: cosmic radiation gets more intensive and variable, oxygen content in the air increases, atmospheric pressure has greater amplitude as well. Based on the research results, the author implements the notion of ”baby insight”: the higher is the radiation level and oxygen content in the air at the latest phase of prenatal development where neural connections is formed, the more connections and the wider network is established between neurons, and the higher the mental abilities are.

Natural radiation is characterized by the level and fluctuations of different height and duration. Abrupt fluctuations can be caused for instance by wide atmospheric particle flow or solar bursts. Massive activation or switch in genetic programs, which among others are responsible for building the neuron net infrastructure in the cortex, takes place in about 24 hours before birth. And if during this key moment, when radio sensitivity of the genome increases, the radioactivity level is high, the program of neuron net building is realized at its best, and mental abilities have a great potential. The other way round, if at such key points the radioactivity level is low or drops down, the programs of neuron net building appear to be weak, and mental abilities of the person worsen. If the radioactivity level  is average, the mental ability will be average, which is typical for most people.

The scientist considered  that the potential genius is born when a strong radiation impulse synchronizes with the first breath of a baby, or near about. The chance of this event is rare, but the genies are not common either.

There is an oxygen effect known in radiobiology from the middle of XX century - the more oxygen the body gets, the better biological effect on a human organism the ionizing irradiation has. With enough oxygen even a regular radiation can be stimulating. For instance, children of women who got oxygen stimulation, especially under last days before giving birth outdid children of mothers who did not.

However, the oxygen effect can occur in the natural environment, for example, at the moments when cyclone is followed by anticyclone, especially in winter. Low pressure is changed to high pressure: it is accompanied by drop in humidity and increases oxygen content in the air and in the baby’s body, which, in turn, improves his mental abilities. When anticyclone is followed by cyclone, mental abilities worsen.

Vinogradov considers clever children born from mothers who got an oxygen stimulation as one of the proofs of his theory of “baby insight” but not the only one. Oxygen content increases not only from low to high latitudes, and not only when anticyclone follows cyclone but from summer to winter as well. Thus, a number of talented people born during the winter time must be greater, which is proved by the statistics as well.

After analyzing data of birth of 19043 famous people whose biographies can be found in reference books and encyclopedias, the scientist have found out that the greatest number of talented people are born in February, the least – in June and August. Moreover, there were in 1,14 times more genius people born during the cold period of the year (from November to April) than during the warm half a year. He has noticed the same tendency amongst especially talented and famous people (1570), but the difference was even greater. This rule is applied to the South hemisphere, where most frequently talented people are being born in July, most seldom in February and December.

The researcher also paid attention to the fact that a lot of prominent people were born near volcanoes and mountain ridges. He revealed a significant difference: Nobel Prize winners turn out to be born more often near the mountains 700 – 1400 meters high, and seldom in the mountain region of 2600 – 3100 meters high. It may be caused by creation of different secondary particles on different height in the atmosphere; they are differently handled by magnetic fields of different length, i.e. mountains of different height.

Vinogradov underlines that studying how environment influences mental abilities of a human being has a significant scientific and practical application. “By knowing the factors and rules of how and why genies are born we can adjust childbirth to favorable environment and increase the ration of talented people in the society and well-being”, says he.

His research also cast a new light on special breathing exercises, places and conditions for such exercises, and their role in increasing intellectual and creative abilities even in common people.
